Us

Boteco is a pub, a bar, a restaurant.

Boteco [bo'teku] is a term derived from the word "botica" (Portuguese from Portugal) which derives from the Greek "apotheke" which means storage, grocery store or where goods were sold.

Today Boteco means a lot. Boteco is a meeting place, a place where people go to enjoy some drinks, have some delicious food, to hang out, "jogar papo fora" and feel as if they are in Brazil, but without spending the big bucks for the flight.

This month, we’re proud to recognize Maria as our Staff Member of the Month at Boteco Brasil 🇧🇷

Maria is one of those people who truly wears many hats—and guests feel it, even if they don’t always see it.

With a background in IT, she’s our go-to whenever we face technical challenges, and she’s always willing to step in and help, no questions asked. From supporting our inventory system to troubleshooting day-to-day issues, her skills help keep everything running smoothly so we can focus on ensuring guests have the best experience possible and feel right at home.

Maria is incredibly responsible, reliable, and always present. Whether it’s covering shifts when someone needs time off or jumping in wherever help is needed, Maria is someone the entire team can count on.

Beyond her technical skills, Maria brings great energy to Boteco. She’s always open to participating in videos or contributing ideas, and she gets along wonderfully with the team — often having a laugh with or traveling with team members outside of working hours.

✨ Maria joined the Boteco team on April 29, 2025, and in such a short time, she has already made a strong and positive impact. She has been such a valued member of our team that her wife will soon be joining Boteco.

Say hello to Gustavo, who arrived from Brazil this past September — and in less than two weeks, he was already part of the Boteco family. 🇧🇷 Since day one, he has brought hard work, positivity, and an amazing willingness to help wherever needed.

Married and a proud father of three kids, Gustavo is a true multitasker and one of the pillars of our operations. Before coming to Canada, he owned a bakery in Brazil — and we definitely feel that experience here: he’s the talent behind our coxinhas, the one preparing all the food for the food truck, and the friendly face serving our community from the truck every single day.

And if that wasn’t enough, he’s also the person who handles all our grocery shopping, making sure Boteco runs smoothly behind the scenes. 💪🛒

We’re incredibly lucky to have Gustavo on our team. His dedication and heart truly keep Boteco going.
